Here's Jenny's bio, in her own words.
I have loved and cared for a wide variety of animals over the course of my life. I grew up in Topanga Canyon, a mountain community in LA county, where I was first introduced to a wide variety of domestic and wild animals. My parents, thankfully, allowed us to have many dogs, rabbits, mice, hamsters, birds, and horses. Unfortunately, my mother was not into cats, so they didn't fully invade my life until later. Everyone who knew me knew from very early on that I would work with animals for the rest of my life.
I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Pre-veterinary Animal Science and went on to become a veterinary assistant/nurse, which I have done for the past twelve years. In addition to doing general veterinary work, such as feeding and handling cats, I give injections, do pilling, give subcutaneous fluids, assist in surgery, perform X-rays, do dentals, perform various lab work, and collect blood and lab samples, to name a few things. For several years now, I have been Head Tech, and so I am also responsible for all staff training.
I have mostly worked at cat-only practices in the city, which gives me a real edge on cat-specific medicine, not to mention a lot of connections with local veterinarians if I should need some advice. In working with cats for so many years, I have developed a keen eye for illness or problems with them while I am watching them. Also, I can perform just about any treatment a cat needs while you're away.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I truly love and respect cats. One of the veterinarians I work with often tells me I'm the best "cat whisperer" she's ever worked with. I make it my aim to meet each cat on their level, show them I respect and understand them, and move forward from there, forging a a relationship with them. If there's one thing I've learned over all these years, it is that each feline has a very particular and unique personality and they are not to by type-casted.
In addition to watching your kitties, I offer to bring in the mail, water some plants, turn lights and/or heat on and off while you're away, and of course, spend some good quality time with your cat(s). You can rest assured your kitties are well cared for with me so you can relax and fully enjoy your trip.
